Emma indeed
I’m not really a fan of Paltrow, I think her Oscar was bought by Weinstein and she is the definition of Hollywood Nepotism, but she’s actually quite good as Emma and I think this so far is the best version of the Jane Austen classic. DEFINITELY better than the AWFUL 2020 version.

Good Movie, But Not the Best Emma Movie Produced
I am a Huge fan of Jane Austen. I have all the books. I alos have each and every one of the movies. I like this version of Emma. It is OK. It is not the best I've seen of the Productions, though. I was disappointed that Gyweth didn't give it more. I thought it was very safe acting but nothing extraordinary. On an upnote, She is gorgeous in this movie. She has some fantastic costumes, beutiful hair, and of course she herself is gorgeous. Maybe it is just because this story is not my favorite one of the bunch. The best movie done with this story is the BBC Production, but even better then this one is the Kate Beckinsale Emma. This movie does have it good points though. The supporting actors did an excellent job. They really made this movie interesting and enjoyable to watch. The sets were so ... I am a Huge fan of Jane Austen. I have all the books. I am biased by an older BBC version of this movie, which comes in 2 VHS tapes (not the one recently aired on PBS). The 1999 DVD version cut out half of the book in my opinion. Mr. Knightley's character was a little younger than expected; Mr. & Mrs. Weston were fair, but more cameo-like in this rendition. Mrs. Elton was done well, even if on a limited basis, while Mr. Elton's portrayal was very wormy; I was also turned off by the characterization of Mr. Frank Churchill. His appearance was not well in keeping with the Regency look, so that he had the appearance of one of the poorer tenants playing dress-up. Disappointing. The abbreviated version, I feel, also did not allow for enough character development of Mrs. Bates and Mr. Woodhouse, and I felt cheated by the characterization or lack ... This Emma is a good version , but I think it is a little too modern. It has some very funny scenes that I enjoy very much though! The Mr. Knightly does a great job!!! And Gwyneth Paltrow is very lovely and witty in her portrayal of the devising Emma Woodhouse, though I believe that Kate Beckinsale exceeded her!!!! The actress playing Harriet Smith is not my personal favorite .....but she does a fine job. If you're looking for an even better version, watch the A&E version with Kate Beckinsale and Samantha Morton!!This Emma is a good version , but I think it is a little too modern. Great actors & characters
Very cute movie & the characters are engaging, it is set in old time England so you need to enjoy this type of movie in order to understand it. It is based on the book by Jane Austen about a very lousy matchmaker.
