    Simple Minds find a winning combination of music

    Simple Minds released New Gold Dream in 1982 and it was a dramatic departure from their earlier works. The songs of New Gold Dream sounded far more like '80s New Wave rock and made heavy use of synthesizers and other music gadgets that were popular in the 1980s. For the first time, Simple Minds combined mood music and New Wave music with thought-provoking lyrics which would put Simon & Garfunkel to shame. The two biggest tracks on New Gold Dream are Someone Somewhere in Summertime, Promised You a Miracle and New Gold Dream, the song that the album was named after. Someone, Somewhere in Summertime is a song about finding a lost love or trying to find your soulmate, and about how hard that is. Promised You A Miracle is about materialism and mocks the idea that money can buy miracles. ...
