    Great D. W. Griffith Box Set / Masterworks

    If you're into film history or have a love for quality, silent films, this is the box set for you. D. W. Griffith Masterworks was issued by Kino Films in 2002. Included in this seven dvd set is the controversial "Birth Of A Nation" (with Civil War short films as a bonus feature), "Intolerance", "Blossom" (with Lillian Gish), "Orphans Of The Storm" (also with Lillian Gish, her last film with D. W. Griffith) and a two disc set of Griffith's Biograph shorts. Unlike other director's of the time (1908-1922), Griffith knew how to transfer a really good story to film. Most of his works were considered "morality films", but he sure gave us a good illustration of what life was like in the early 20th Century. Without going ...
