    Good movie; bad DVD

I love any movie with the pair. The lines are funny; Bob Hope knows how to deliver them so well! Especially did I like the line where Rip Torn tell Bob Hope, ‘We communicate well with each other,’ and Hope replies, “What, with two tin cans and a string?” The only drawback is that the DVD had surface issues and did not play all the way through.

  • Curtain Call

A good pairing of Lucille Ball and Bob Hope in this 1963 movie. Hope plays a theater critic and Ball his wife, who is penning a play about growing up with her nutty sisters and mother. Hope puts her down thinking it is a phase that will pass, but it doesn't and her play gets optioned by a famous producer, who also has some romantic interest in Ball. When the play finally has an opening night, Hope is assigned to review it and Ball knows he will give it a thumbs down because he was never too happy about this from the beginning. The film has its predictable moments and Lucille Ball does outshine Hope in this film, but it's fun just watching anything they are in together!

  • Critics Choice nearly put me to sleep

A real sleeper as far as I'm concerned. nearly two hours of wishing the end of the movie would hurry up. Boring story about a Play Critic (Bob Hope) whose wife (Lucille Ball) decides to write a play, the husband Bob Hope reads the play and tells her it stinks...the rest is predictable....she becomes defensive and disharmony erupts in the marriage. I'm pretty easy to laugh but this movie nearly put me to sleep. I wasted good money on a very boring movie and I'm surprized that Bob Hope chose to star in it...maybe he needed some quick money or wanted to star with Lucille Ball but it was one of those movies neither one could brag about.

  • Critic's Choice

Typical slapstick from two giants of the entertainment industry in the 50's and 60's. It wears a bit thin for todays clients for movies. Most jokes are so setup that you know what will be said even below the words are spoken. Even with this in mind it is still a wonderful movie of the time it was produced. I highly recomend the movie for the over 50 crowd. It may be a time waster for some but if you enjoy comedy from the people that made it an art form, this movie is for you. L. Ball and B. Hope were top Box office personalities when the movie was made.

  • Bob Hope movie

Love Bob and Lucy great comedians working together.
