About this product

Product Information

Set in the science fiction realms of the film franchise crossover, Aliens vs. Predator is a high-definition action-adventure composed of tense, violent, kill-or-be-killed scenarios. Following the design concept of earlier AvP shooters, the game pits three different factions against one another. Players take the roles of deadly xenomorph aliens, stealthy predators, and heavily armed space marines, to do battle with enemies from the other two factions. Evolved to protect the brood, the alien xenomorphs are unmatched in melee combat, and excel at surprise attacks with their overpowering strength. Born of a species of hunters, the predator is a master of well-timed assaults and agile attacks. Physically weak but at a technological advantage, the human marines use heavy firepower to take down enemies from a distance. In many of the game's levels, warriors from all three factions must fight against one another in the same battles, at the same time.

Players will have to fight hard to survive, but it pays to fight smart, as well. In some situations, characters can manipulate the environment, or accomplish other puzzle-solving feats, in order to put their enemies at a disadvantage. Single players take the roles of each species in turn, as they progress through the game's three campaigns. Multiplayer configurations are also available to Internet-connected gamers, offering the chance to play against other human-controlled warriors, in deathmatch and team-based competitions. Sega's Aliens vs. Predator was developed by Rebellion, whose previous work with the series includes Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem for PSP, the 1999 home computer game Aliens Versus Predator, and 1994's well received Alien vs. Predator for Atari Jaguar. In creating the game's three-pronged storyline, designers took special inspiration from the original films and from the Dark Horse comics series.

AVP (2010): still a great game!

If you're an Alien/Predator fan, & haven't played this game yet: I highly recommend it! The story is engaging, especially for the creatures, & the gameplay has a good flow! It's an older game now, (released in 2010) however I don't think age detracts from a solid game. The graphics still hold up, & the new designs Rebellion created are phenomenal. To me this game is a classic! If you can grab the Steelbook, again, I highly recommend it! It's got some great art, & will fit in alongside any other metal cases in your collection.

  • AVP review, played and beat game already

General: I have always been a fan of the Predator based movies, not so much with Aliens but I still own it on DVD. The cinematics of the game were outstanding and had an interesting storyline to flow through. Although I still remember the first AVP on the PC was more stressful and scarier to play because of “pop-up” surprise and anticipation attacks, AVP 2010 for PS3 still had it’s awesome moments. The graphics are outstanding and I was fortunate enough not to go through any bugs as I’m sure any current patches should resolve them. The predator and alien characters do have a bit of a learning curve to get use to the controls. So if you plan to play online, unless your very versatile, stick to one species and master it so you can be very good. Good: Cinematics are cool to watch and the game ...

  • It's really not that bad!

Graphics-82/Sound-99/Controls-82/Blast Force-85/Overall-87 It's not bad. It's not average, even. No, for anyone who is either familiar with or flat out head over heels in love with the franchise will see this is one of the funnest games to come down the pike in a long time. I was not alone in thinking "Concrete Jungle" deserved better than a "2 out of 10 (c'mon, Game Infarcer)." The graphics aren't perfect, but they're good enough to increase the itensity dramatically while the soundtrack replicates everything that was terrifying or exciting about both movie series. I felt "Predator: Concrete Jungle" was not only one of the best action games that year, but possible of that generation! There's a reason it still sells for around 30 dollars everywhere you go. This gem is better! ...

  • Aliens vs. Predator Review

AvP has always been one of my favorite franchises, so I'm a bit obligated to forgive what some people would consider major flaws. The first thing I hear people talk about the most is the length of the campaigns. it is true that you could probably complete all three campaigns in a cummulative of eight hours. so for this reason I would probably advise against buying this game full price if you don't play online as well. the online play is amazing. many different game modes and endless hours of fun.
