    old generation models still work & modern ones break

    everything is good about the product. it is an old generation model, my son has the same model for over 18 years and is still using it. i also have an old generation denon model 2600 and it is way over 18 years old and is still running. i bought a new modern model avr s940h and it is garbage. i had it repaired and it broke again within an hour. the modern models r garbage, and the old generation ones r still working!

    15+ years and still going strong!

    I bought my Denon AVR-4802 in 2001 or 2002 when it first hit the market. It is now 2017 and we use it daily, and have since new. Still using the original touchscreen remote too. She sounds just as good as the day I bought her, and use for general day to day TV viewing and also in our whole house audio system. I bought a Velodyne 12" sub at the same time, damn thing is still working too! They don't make gear like this anymore. If you find a clean unit, and want great sound and power, for a couple of hundred bucks, you will not beat it. Go find a photo of the toroidal transformer inside of this beast... That says it all.

    Very nice power amp

    I am using my baby to Bi-Amp the center channel ! You have to have a separate kick A piece for the vocals on the best 5.1 productions ! I tried it on all 7 channels when I first received it , but now I have two more Denon amps . I can bi amp all 5 channels with 3 amps . they all have the marvelous toroidal based power supply, that Denon used back in the first decade of the 21st century !

    Denon AVR 4802R 7.1 THX Receiver

    Denon AVR 4802R, is excellent receiver, lots of power, THX II, Dolby pro logic II, DTS ES, Very nice regular remote control, better than the LED type. I have 3 different Denon receiver prior to this one, the AVR 4802R is the best value for the money. It has so many inputs /outputs. Highly recommended!!

    EBAY list this as a 5.1 receiver, Its a 7.1 channel.

    I have owned the 4802R denon for over 2 year with no problems at all.If you have seen the other denon 4802 for sale on ebay the difference between them is the 4802R has the Thx and Thx ultra 2 surround modes.Ebay for what ever reason list the 4802R a 5.1 channel when it is a 7.1 channel receiver.This 4802R has good power at 125 watts per channel and the set up is easy.Again i have had no problems at all.
