Review for LCD screen only...
I bought this on an "as is" auction for the LCD screen alone. I intended to use it with a comcorder as a remote viewfinder when the camera was on a jib crane. The unit came as described: no disc funtionality. So, this review will only be for the monitor and settings and with regard to how I use it. This screen suits me well for the aforementioned purpose. The resolution is not the greatest (definitely not HD), but I can view it somewhat well in direct sunlight. That is a bonus for me. It has settings for viewing in moonlight, sunlight, and a manual set of controls for color and brightness. It folds almost flat to be used as a tablet. I say almost: the sony is completely flat, and if you want/need that option, the Panasonic is not a perfect fit for your needs. There are several different ... There are several different viewing arrangements that are made possible by the "screen arm" that Panasonic uses. Some are more helpful than Sony's configuration. (I only use it as a tablet, and it works just fine.) The on/off and screen adjustments are still available to the touch when the screen is in the tablet configuration. That is another bonus. The options with respect to discs are hidden in tablet form, but for me this is a non-issue. Mine came with a mounting plate with an adjustable strap. (That was a surprise. I didn't know that was included in the auction.) It locksreleases very well, and I anticipate utilizing it often. LASTLY... the build is just above average. The "screen arm" is a bit loose, and everything else has a toy-ish feel. This player should last me for quite a few jobs and projects, but only if I take care not to abuse it. It does not appear very rugged. CONCLUSION: For me and my particular use of it, this player (SCREEN) is perfect. Though it is a bit toyish in appearance, and the screen resolution is not HD, I would buy another one for similar kinds of projects.

I've had several of these over the past 10 years. Good quality, for the money. The picture is larger than your phone, so it is more useful for plane rides and other places.

This is a great little player with excellent image quality.
This is a great little player with excellent image quality. It DOES DO anamorphic wide-screen so if you are watching a wide-screen movie, it will display beautifully as it should, not get all stretched out. Nice video input and output. We have two and use one to play the DVDs and display on both screens. If you can pick up a good deal on a clean refurbished unit you'll be set.
