About this product

Product Information

Konami's quirky Dance Dance Revolution series twirls its way onto Xbox with the release of Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix, which features online support and offers exclusive licensed music designed to appeal to American audiences. The first online version of the series, Ultramix allows players to download additional songs and dance steps as well as challenge contestants from around the world to receive an Internet ranking. Play involves pressing a series of directions to the beat of the music. By stringing together complete sequences, players can increase their onscreen dance meter and advance to more challenging routines. Fail to keep up with the arrows, however, and the meter will decrease and eventually end the game.

New to the series is the Challenge Mode, which has players trying to complete specific objectives while advancing through multiple rounds of dance routines. A separate dance pad peripheral is required to get the most out of the experience, which connects directly to the controller port and lets players use their feet instead of their fingers. The dance pad can even be used as part of an aerobic exercise routine, with the game counting the number of calories burned during marathon freestyle sessions. Would-be choreographers can create their own routines for each song, save them to the Xbox hard drive, or trade them to friends via Xbox Live.

I can't for the life of me figure out why this game hasn't completely come out of its shell yet. This game will have you down to your scivvies and jogging shorts in no time. Very intense play where you have to step on a dance pad in time to a beat. Maybe a 1/4 of the songs are well heard of, the other 3/4 I really don't think are top of the charts. They are quite tolerable though. Mostly techno of course. Game play is easy for someone over 10 years old. There are many levels of game play so you can challenge yourself at an impossible level, or just use it as a fun easy workout. Everyone that visits wants to either purchase the game after trying it, or wants to play more, so it's also a great ice breaker for company at the house. Down sides are clear. You can't play it without the ...

  • IM MIXED ON THIS ONE!

First off let's get this straight- I'm a crazy hardcore DDR fiend. Was I impressed with this game? The answer is NO my friends. But why did I give it a "great" rating? because this game is "great" for any DDR beginners. In fact out of all the DDR games, this is the best game for any novice dancers. I found that the difficulty of the game was too easy for me and that's why I recommend that hardcore DDR fans stray from this game. Compared to other DDR games, the hardest level on this game is like a "standard" song on the other games in the series. I've also found this game very lenient as to how it rates your timing, it's almost impossible to get an overwhelming amount of goods or greats if you try. You'll find this to be almost opposite in the other games as they are much more strict. But, ...

  • DDR Ultramix, A fun game to play with friends.

I purchased DDR Ultramix a little over a month ago and I love it! It's a fun game and it's a really good workout too! I'm glad I purchased two dance pads because it's more fun to play with other people. There's a cartoon person who dances on the screen in the background and it can be distracting at times. I also don't like some of the dance moves that the cartoon does, but they really aren't that bad. The dance mats tend to twist and shift during play, which tends to be annoying, but I don't have any grip pads underneath either. It has different levels of difficulty that can be quite challenging at first, since I had never played the game before. Overall it is a very challenging game to begin with (I spent a lot of time in the "practice room" doing the moves slowly), but easy to ...

  • Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix (Xbox)

My kids play it everyday and enjoy it to the max. I saw this at a recreation center where my son goes, and decide to purchase it for my home. I thought only my 8 year old would use, however I was wrong. My older teenagers have enjoyed it as well. Consequently, I'm considering buying my pads so that four people can play at the same time to prevent arguments on who's going to play next. Best purchase I have made in a long time. It was great to purchase considering its summer time and the kids need something to occupy their time.

  • Love it. Songs are good and basically its for dancing.!!!!

The Dvd Dance revolution ultra mix is great. my son and i are beginners but yet we spend hours dancing and work up quite a sweat and that is on the easy levels. there are many songs to choose from and many difficulty levels as well. we are only on the first 2 levels so we have many more to go. For my family this is a great entertainment and also gets everyone off the couch since we live in a time of sedation, sitting behind computer screens and TV screens all day. This keeps us active and we have fun competing
