Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag shows the U.S. Air Force's pilots and crews and Boeing's combat aeronautics/avionics hardware performing in some of the toughest simulated conditions available, so if you're a fan of either or both, watch this film! The write-up of this Blu-ray Disc says exactly what the potential viewer will see; A young American fighter pilot negotiating the challenge of Operation Red Flag. There are a few glances in additional directions, but don't count on those to be a good reason to make this purchase. As a sidenote, don't get it expecting eye-popping 1080p High Def sequences that make you feel you're in the Nevada desert as part of the action unless you actually have an IMAX theater in your backyard. This depiction of Operation Red Flag is a close-up of a few of ... Awesome Blu Ray
As an aviation photographer I often fly in fast jets and I can honestly say this is an excellent representation of jet fighters in side and out side the cockpit. The sound on the blu ray is awesome and the jets really rattle around the room on a surround sound system. The picture quality is crystal clear as you would expect from IMAX. The xercise is covered in some detail and the shots of the aircraft are truly stunning. It is very US centric so the UK contingent is given only a fleeting moment. The background music can overtake the aircraft noise a little but it is acceptable. The making of feature is alos excellent. If you love fast jets, hearing them, watching them, and want to get as close as you can to in the cocpit in glorious colour and sound then get this blu ray. Fighter pilot in Blu Ray and imax
If you love aircraft, the movie Top Gun, and incredible visuals, then this movie is for you. It isn't a hollywood story about a fighter Jockey, it's a documentary about the world's top pilots honing their skills over the desert southwest. As the movie was shot in Imax film, the color and clarity of this blue ray are unsurpassed. I know, I used to work on the flight line, and if you crank up the volume you can experience a little of that chest pounding rumble of an F-15 going verticle from take-off, find out why they called the A-10 "the wart hog". It isn't because of it's shape! The best scenes are from the air craft, flying 100 feet (it looks MUCH closer)over the tops of mountains at 500 knots, chasing the enemy...
