About this product

Product Information

Dawn of Discovery is a real-time strategy game of New World exploration, expansion, trade, and conquest, based on Sunflowers Interactive's well-established Anno series of home computer games (Anno 1602, Anno 1701; also titled 1602 A.D. and 1701 A.D in North America). The framework for gameplay in the Wii, PC, and Nintendo DS versions of Dawn of Discovery is similar to that in the 2008 release for DS, 1701: Dawn of Discovery, but artwork, animations, and interface have been redesigned to be entertaining and accessible to a casual, console-style audience. In the age of tall ships and global exploration, players rise to power by staking their claims in resource-rich wildernesses, protecting their growing outposts from threats both internal and external, harvesting the riches of the land, and mastering the economics of trade -- with neighboring settlements and Old World patrons alike. There must be enough income to pay for a town's protection, maintenance, and development, but if taxes are too high, the people will revolt. Without a militia to fend off attacks from pirates and other enemies, a town's wealth can be stolen away in a moment, but too much time and money spent on the military will leave little for infrastructure maintenance or trade improvements. In addition to several options for single-player empire-building, the Wii and DS editions of Dawn of Discovery features a two-player mode that can be played across different platform versions of the game.

Great seller, was super quick with all communication and responses. Very well packaged, and seller even provide pics before shipping. Item was brand new, and when turned worked well except for a few dead pixels, But for a 25+ year old toy, not too bad. Would definitely buy from here again.

The N64 looks barely used, there was no dirt or visible marks on the plastic, it is as if it were new. The description was promising. The seller is not a crafty person, he sends you a notification of the package along with some photos of the item coming well packaged. I recommend this seller, I believe that he cares about his clients.

  • Good and Easy Game!

Dawn of Discovery was a surprise for me. I bought this game without any further knowledge and I will say that this game was good, while it lasted. There are a few good things about the game while there are a few things that could have been changed or left out. Let me begin with the good parts. Dawn of Discovery had some satisfying moments. The thing I enjoyed the most was just building things on a "fresh" new island. Discovering new islands to strenghen my resources was fun to a point as well. There were times when I was so focused on building things, that when the level ended, I felt bummed, as if I should have been the one to "end" that particular level. Of course, it doesn't work that way in DoD. Other things I like about the game was the easy controls and the ability to manipulate the ...

  • ADDICTIVE GAME VERY GOOD

what i like about his game is that it is very addictive. its like sim city with a story line! very good controls. i wish the sea battles were a little more interactive, but other than that this game is well worth the price. hours of enjoyment. you build various colonies and deal with their problems as you try to save you're native land from eventual bankruptcy. the king sends you out to discover more land so he can collect taxes from settlers. you try to build them up through various class distinctions. while you competing against another sim. great game over all.

  • A fun and addicting game.

This game is pretty cool if you ask me. I havent played it very long but I see myself getting addicted to this game. It takes alot for me to give a 5/5 rating so I gave it a 4/5. This game is like an early age sim city. It is one of those strategy games than you can play awhile before you get bored. The game play seemed a little hard to get figured out but at first but didnt take long to catch on. There is alot you can do. If you like the sim city style games with a bit of a story line than it is worth picking up. I am sure I will be playing it for awhile and I get bored with games fast. I would pay $20.00 for it again.

  • Dawn of Discovery (Wii, 2009)

There isn't enough space to write the review that I really would like to write. So in short, the graphics compliment the Wii's established user based market. The controls are intuitive and the learning curve is minor. But the real prize is in the design. The intricate and complex interface found in the PC version has been simplified and offers a very fun and simplistic approach to managing resources and building your empire.

  • Nice discovery game

Did not know if this would be a game for me or the kids? Turns out that the kids like to play it as much as me! Fun game if you are not into massive action! Discovery is what you do, just as the the in the name of the game! Good game for everyone!
