  • MAGNIFICENT!

The past 7+ years have allowed me (however reluctantly) to become somewhat of an expert in animated movies. My twin grandsons have seen to that. WE LOVE THIS MOVIE!! There is humor for all ages. The plot moves along quickly, so fast that at times I had to explain some of the subtleties to the boys but that just makes it less boring to watch repeatedly. Hank Azaria is at his best as Bartok, the white bat and self-proclaimed magnificent star of the story. His performance compares favorably to his delightful execution of Sven, the flying 'penguin' in Happy Feet Two. We own hundreds of animated movies. This is one of the few I never tire of. I've recommended it to many friends with grandchildren and have never gotten a negative review from any of them. On the ...

  • Bartok the magnificent

A decent movie, especially since you can get it for usually around 3 bucks or less. Overall the animation is pretty good, not Bluth's best but it beats some of his other projects. A good kid's movie although there are a few scary scenes at first (the witch and the skull "door") but after their intitial shots they take on a more comical nature and become less frightening, especially for kids over 7 or 8 yrs. old. Batok's voice becomes annoying after awhile but the supporting characters are pretty good, overall I would give it an average to above average rating.

  • Nifty little cartoon!

This is the only direct-to-dvd follow-up to a Don Bluth movie that Bluth actually worked on. It's not bad, though there's not much suspense, and Bartok can be very chatty. The film has a saturday afternoon feel to it, with an adventure that's plays more like practice, and songs that begin and end abruptly. What really makes this film rise above it all is Don Bluth, who is a master animator.

The dvd brought back good memories.
