    The Brothers McMullen (DVD, 2000)

    This was actually a pretty good movie, but the cinematography and the acting was at best, ordinary. Not your typical Hollywood production, full of four-letter words and sex scenes. The entire movie revolves around a character study of three brothers, Barry, Jack, and Pat. Barry and Pat move in with Jack who is married but having an affair with Barry's old girlfriend Ann. His wife Molly has been on his back to have a child. The youngest brother, Pat, is trying everything to break his engagement with Susan and winds up being devastated when she dumps him first. He was a devout Catholic and she was Jewish, and she knew that it would never work. Barry is not interested in any long term relationships until he meets Audrey. He accused her of stealing away an apartment that he wanted. At first ...

    Fitting!

    The Brothers McMullen is a well written, well acted original storyline by Edward Burns. It is witty, touching and humorous, and hits home to anyone who has siblings. It was refreshing to see a movie that wasn't your typical hollywood-shmollywood-been-done-a-million-times-already, and I enjoyed Edward Burns acting performance tremendously, as who better to act the role than the writer himself? Had to add this one to my collection without doubt!
