    Greatness with Class

There is something very special about this duo. The voices are polished. I enjoy it and feel honored to have this in my collection.

  • Who'd a thunk it??

This CD, although one might think would be a really weird juxtaposition of genres, is actually exceptionally interesting. How can one go wrong with my very favorite soprano of all times, Monserrat, and my very favorite rock singer of all times, Freddie? You can tell how much Freddie loved opera and it's pretty obvious how much Monserrat was taken with Freddie. There are occasional riffs of some of the unusual studio special effects that Freddie was known to play with, as well as what sounds to be a full gospel choir. Some of the writing/composing is a bit corny (The Fallen Priest), but overall it's an inspiring CD. Freddie was at full voice at this point in his life and must have been taking care of it, unlike how he was in the mid-80's with smoking and it's effects ...

  • Another wonderful side of Freddie Mercury. AWESOME!!!!

I learned about the making of "Barcelona" while reading books about Freddie Mercury. It was a dream of his to work with Montserrat Caballe and he was honored when she agreed to make this album with him. Learning about Freddie's love of anything Japanese, together with his love for opera and gospel music, brought meaning to the compilation of different songs in this collection. I haven't stopped playing the CD since the day it arrived. A truly amazing look at the depth of Freddie Mercury - the person and the musician. Long live Freddie Mercury.

  • Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe Rock and Opera

If you are a Queen and Freddie Mercury fan and can appreciate all types of musical genre you will enjoy this. This is Freddie's last work before his death. He has such range, feeling, enunciation and projection. He admired Montserrat and I am glad he could finish this work. So many have copied his style and flamboyancy but there is only one Freddie.

  • Mercury & Caballe, A Rare Duo

I bought this second copy of "Barcelona" for my daughter. I bought my copy because Queen is one of my favorite bands and Monserrat Caballe is one of my favorite opera singers. Although pairing a rocker and an opera singer seems to be an odd idea this combination really works. Neither singer compromises their sound, and Queen's lush orchestrations are in top form. Several pieces seem taken from operatic plots, Madama Butterfly and Thais. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a love for opera or rock who would like to experience something completely different.
