      It worked!

      After shocking well and hot water tank, then removing zinc. Aluminum anode rod, this electrified rod was inserted. Two weeks later still do not have odor as before. Time will tell if the hot water heater is protected but wife is delighted that our hot water does not smell like rotten eggs any longer.
