Lowering the operating temperature can help to ensure that the product and its contents remain protected. Perhaps more importantly, your data is protected as well. WD NoTouch ramp load technology ensures that the recording head of the hard drive doesn't touch the disk media. The feature greatly reduces wear on both the recording head and the media. It also serves to better protect the hard drive while being transported. This internal HDD features a metallic cover that protects data from damaging bumps and vibrations. The integrated ShockGuard also works to protect the drive from bumps and vibrations instantly when in use. This allows WD Caviar Blue devices to lead the industry in shock protection. LOTS AND LOTS of bubble wrapped used, which I had really hoped for, to insured it from bein' damaged durin' it's travel here from, practically, lightyears away XP. Will let it naturally warm up cuz of the winter coldness. Only tiny minor "tidbit" is that I wuz expectin' the 7200 RPM Black Scorpio rather than a 5400 RPM Blue Scorpio that the seller did updated.
