The Ocean World of Jacques-Yves Cousteau
In the course of 40 years, everything and anythings that relates to the ocean and the undersea world has been of interest to me. One constant denominator that has always been part of my own quest in learning more about the sea is Jacques- Yves Cousteau and his team of great divers and explorers from his ship, the CALYPSO. Since my chilhood, I was captivated by the documentaries being broadcasted on television, and wanting to learn more, his books became my tools. When I couldn't afford buying them, I would go to the local library and get my 'fill' of amazing discoveries. Today, I enjoy collecting some of these older books that have been part of my life, at one time or another, and THE OCEAN WORLD is one of them. It contains another chapter of Jacques-Yves Cousteau's fantastic life, ... I'm happy to have purchased a vintage copy of this book, the same one I once owned, to restore it in my personal library and to refer to it, from time to time, with the hope that, one day, it will belong to someone of our future generation who will appreciate the work and legacy of this brilliant man, J-Y Cousteau. Ultimate Coffee Table Book
The pictures alone are what make this a spectacular book. Great for kids. The paper stock is thick and glossy and the cover is real cloth. The only thing that keeps me from giving this book an excellent rating is the cover hinges break easily because they are not strong enough for the weight of the pages. I have two copies of this book and it has happened to both. I repaired them by gluing cloth over the broken hinges.
