A movie worthy of repeated viewing.
Solid story line presented by excellent actors chosen for specific roles and scenes. Romance movies are my favorite and this one is outstanding made better with the western genre as its foundation. Highly recommended. The Outsider DVD has a home in my permanent collection.

I purchased 2 DVDs! And I paid $26 on eBay, new. I watch this movie nearly every day! My girlfriend demanded to have one also. She was so spellbound, she couldn't leave my home until it was over! If you ever wanted to be saved by masculinity and good looks w/real love, this is the movie for you! The woman is very attractive as well, and there are some scenes not suitable for young children, as in a bullet wound and a sex scene, not too graphic, but there. This movie will make you feel good, not at first, but it will! And that is what is supposed to happen when you spend your money! To sum it up: Religion vs. common sense! The Outsider
I saw this movie on television and I could not stop thinking about it. The music is haunting, the scenery is beautiful. Naomi Watts and Tim Daly have a real chemistry on screen. They are perfectly casted. Tim Daly really develops his character and oh, my...is he handsome. My husband considers this sort of a chick flick but it has some good old fashion western shoot outs and he enjoyed it enough to sit through it. The love scenes are sweet and done well. This movie is now an all time favorite for me. I would like to see Tim Daly in more roles such as this. He usually plays sleeze ball however, he has proven that he can take on a complex role and do justice to it. David Carradine made the movie for me. kinda good
I like the movie, because it did have a reasonable interesting story plot, and it lead up to something, then just jumping in the bed. altho some of the parts were kind of way out., like she kept hearing music, and that was suppose to?????,.... but anyway, the religious group of people in the movie, that don't fight and defend themselves, but expected the law to fight for them, was kind of funny when this person noah kept telling the doctor, they didn't need any help from outsiders cause they'll take of their own, which they don't, and then told the woman Rebecca, that she needed a husband to protect her, to me that was a joke, because when the cattle stampede happened, where was Mr. Noah?, he ran in the barn like the rest, and it was the outsider that stepped up and ... The Outsider
I was very excited to see Tim Daly again in this fine movie. He is so comfortable on screen and in front of a camera, he makes acting look easy. I loved his character and especially the way the director had the camera focus on how Johnny looked at Rebecca - love was subtle and ushered in by the sideway glances, the look, the eyes, the slight smiles - Tim and Naomi made it come alive in this film. Tim Daly did a wonderful job and deserves an Oscar for it... well, if I had anything to say about it he would! The only thing is I wish the love making scenes were held off until they were married, but it would have been hard for me to keep my hands off him too!
