The Northern Exposure Cookbook 1993
This is a great book to use to make many favorite dishes. Most require extra time to prepare so be ready to be in the kitchen a while. The recipes are divided into types of foods and are named after the Northern Exposure characters in the show. Quotes from the characters usually start off the recipes as if they were preparing the dish itself. Lots of b&w pictures as well. Check it out and enjoy your food.This is a great book to use to make many favorite dishes. Most require extra time to prepare so be ready to be in the kitchen a while. Fun, practical cookbook with related No. Ex. commentary
I've always liked the quirky early 1990's show Northern Exposure. One of the "stars" of the show was the cuisine. Whether a short-order dish from The Brick bar and grill, or a local indian dish, or even a gourmet meal from an unlikely semi-hermit resident who happened to be a world class chef, the food, like the show was unusual, but incredibly "real". The Norther Exposure cookbook is the same. The "mooseburger" can easily be converted to hamburger, and even the gourmet dishes can be made from items easy to obtain from the local grocery, and prepared with common kitchen utensils. (There was no gourmet food store or kitchen in Cicily, Alaska!) These are the type of dishes that anyone could fix for dinner any night of the week.
