        Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Manners and Customs How People of the Bible Lived is a wonderful find. Nelson seams together biblical texts with well researched cultural history. It is a massive undertaking of compiled information. Readers are impressed to discover how different or how the same things are today as from the days of Abraham’s departure from Ur up to the period of Christianity thriving. Content is logically laid out focusing on various cultural aspects of life for sequential periods. If you cannot make a trip to any of the Holy Land sites, I would recommend you to at least obtain a copy of the book, even if you just flip through it, or use it as a reference.
