About this product

    Product Information

The sequel to Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode, The Mafat Conspiracy once again stars Duke Togo (code name Golgo 13), a James Bond-like action hero. He has a phenomenal memory, drives a killer Ferrari, excels in athletics, and packs a wicked karate kick. Of course, he has a deadly aim and is smooth with the ladies. This is a man, so it has been said, who "makes the impossible possible."

Our handsome hero has been called upon by the CIA to eliminate the leader of the Mafat Revolutionary Group, an organization that has brought down SK2, one of the satellites that was part of America's Strategic Defense Initiative (better known as SDI or Star Wars). This group has threatened to trash more satellites and is demanding that the Soviets turn over their research on the military application of electromagnetic waves. As if that were not enough, they also want the American government to give them the Los Angeles, a ship outfitted with nuclear warheads.

In addition to assassinating the leader of the enemy terrorists, Duke must also destroy the Satellite Capture System and retrieve Dr. Barrows, the man who invented the satellite capture technology. The doctor was kidnapped from his lab in England many years ago and taken to Paris, where he remains in confinement.

As The Mafat Conspiracy begins, Golgo 13 (as played by you) has received orders from the CIA directive and eft for Paris.

The action in this game takes place on five different types of screens: horizontally scrolling, stationary, Ferrari, maze, and sniper. The scrolling levels pit you against a number of enemies, including men armed with pistols, machine guns, scythes, grenades, and knives. You'll also face boomerang men, scorpions, and dogs. To fight the good fight, you are armed with a gun and can pick up extra ammo along the way. You can also kick your enemies.

The stationary screens let you kick and punch the enemies, which include Arm of Mafat, who's inside the Mafat hideout, Bodyguard, who protects Ahmad Khan, and Canine, who awaits you at the Mafat base. In addition to fighting enemies in the scrolling and stationary levels (both of which are timed), you will also do a lot of running and jumping.

The Ferrari Action Screens and Maze Screens employ the use of a 3D perspective. The Ferrari portion of the game is a timed race in which you view the action from behind the car. You can shift gears and throw hand grenades at cars containing KBG men. In the mazes you can fire upon pistol-shooting, grenade-throwing and machine gun-toting bad guys while exploring the various hallways and rooms. You can find extra bullets and an infrared scope that gives you night vision.

The Sniper Screen, which makes use of your experience as an assassin, features a close-up of you aiming a gun and in the background a close-up of the target site. When aiming your gun and preparing to fire, you should take into consideration the wind speed and direction.

Throughout this game, a member of the CIA who goes by the name of James will provide you with information on the enemies and on the location of Dr. Barrows. He will also provide you with special weapons that you may request. Agent Sylvia also lends a helping hand. A series of cinematic cut-scenes plays out the involved storyline as you go.
