      Tunes of Glory DVD

The supplemental interviews of TofG were informative. I didn't realize that the lead role casting had been mulled over, reversing the Col. Barrows and Col. Sinclair roles, i.e., Alec Guinness playing Col. Barrows and his nemesis being John Mills. (To me, that would have been a stretch.)

    • Peter McEnery Shines in Early Film Role

I bought this DVD for the engaging performance of Peter McEnery as David MacKinnon. He was only 20 years old and already acting alongside John Mills and Alec Guinness. Four years later, he starred with John Mills' daughter Hayley in Disney's The Moonspinners. The DVD is just fine, and a young Susannah York adds some welcome liveliness.
