    You get what you pay for.

    $10 for a 1/4 wave. I wasn't expecting much, and - in that sense, the antenna met all my expectations. You can certainly cut it to frequency and make it work. Take a look at the photo I've added. This is what you get. The cone is rubber (pokes up through the threaded retaining ring), it applies pressure to that small bakelite(?) piece that jams the setting bead down into the center-conductor of your NMO. You WILL chew up the center of your NMO mount if you do that. Much better to go with something that has a springy tab or spring-loaded, rounded centerpiece to make that contact.
