Wit, charm and the thrill of the chase make the Falcon films so much fun to watch.

In 1941, George Sanders emerged as a suave English gentleman-detective, known as The Falcon. It was Wendy Barrie's hard boiled charm that helped set up the targets for Sander's biting wit and made two legs of the romantic triangles that evolved in his cases that made the Falcon movies such a draw. In episode #4, The Falcon's Brother, Sanders was replaced by his real life brother, Tom Conway. Conway, who seemed more at ease in the role, made the Falcon more dashing and urbane, a private eye with some private thoughts of his own about the various females he encounters. Both brothers enjoyed the pursuit and went after the women like crazy, making the Falcon fun, breezy and light entertainment around the dark crimes they set out to solve. Filmed in the 40s, these films were B-studio made ...

  • THE FALCON GETS IT DONE

THE FALCON was an entertaining B movie series designed to fill the second half of double bills in movie houses during the 1940s. George Sanders starred in the first three entries, handing over the reins over to his real life brother Tom Conway, who appeared in the succeeding ten episodes. The adventures of the suave, womanizing sleuth are entertaining, especially those that featured James Gleason and Allen Jenkins. Of particular interest is THE FALCON IN HOLLYWOOD, which takes us inside the hallowed walls of a major motion picture studio.

  • Too much lame comedy, but when serious good camp-fun!

The early Falcons tried to have too much lame comedy; but when serious it is great camp fun. Also get to see all the old houses, cars, furniture, etc. of the time!

  • A very good mystery series with George Sanders (the original Saint!) and Tom Conway. I recommend it!

George Sanders in another murder mystery series. Fine acting and fine plots...both Sanders and Tom Conway. I recommend it to mystery lovers!

  • They just do not make them like this anymore. Older is really better.

They do not make them like this anymore. And more's the pity. Decent stories with decent acting. Good versus evil and good wins. The Falcon went through many manifestations and these movies show the character off well.
