      A newer model than 5520 may be a better value

      The HP 5520 provides very good print and scan quality. It required multiple attempts to link it to my HP laptop, but I thankfully finally succeeded in obtaining a wifi connection. The HP 5520 does not have a port which would allow hard wiring it to your computer. I purchased a brand new HP 5520 at Staples around 15 years ago for less than half of what i paid for this new in the original box 5520. I chose to stick with a printer that I was familiar with, but it may have been smarter to purchase a newer model.

      Good Printer But It Doesn't Last Long Till It Dies

      I now have 2 of these, both don't work. Initially it's a good printer, they stopped making this model the 5520 years ago. Along with thousands of others, I got a few couple of years out of it, then it died. HP acknowledges the printer has problems, and it was not a cheap printer to buy either. If you happen to find a used one for sale (Beware) you're asking for trouble. If you happen to find one that says (New) its been sitting around for years, still selling for too much money, and it won't last long before it fails on you. - Buyer Beware! One common and major problem is that eventually it won't print black. The print head has a history of failing after a few years.       GLAD TO PUT MY HANDS ON.

      I ordered this as a spare/backup for my Photosmart 7525 multi-function machine. As far as I can see, the two perform with the same quality and efficiency. The only thing the 5520 doesn't have that the 7525 does, is automatic document feed, which I have no need for. As far as being easy to set up, I had to answer "no". That's because numerous times I saw the notification that there was no wireless connection with the computer. When I was asked if I wanted to install updates on the printer, I answered "yes". THEN I was able to complete the set up. Other than that detail, I am quite satisfied with the machine's performance. It's definitely a good value.

      Great printer for the price

      The printer was a great buy at $50. It has many of the common all-in-one printer functions that was easy to set up. I especially like being able to print from my IPhone or tablet. Quality of print was adequate and the ink usage is normal compared to other printers I have owned in the past. Be prepared to buy ink if you use this or any other inkjet printer on the market today.

      I am very pleased with the purchase. I had the same model and it was very easy to replace it with this one one. The price is excellent and it works fine. Much better than buying some models of printers which are cheap but the ink cost a fortune. The ink for this one is very reasonable.
