Oil Filter Magnet
I ordered 3 for some family member's vehicles: a 21 Yamaha MT09, a 2011 Escape and a 1999 Escort. Here's how things went: MT09: the filter is installed at a 90 degree angle. The magnet sits pretty flush against the filter, and probably has the strongest attachment to this one out of the 3 vehicles. It only has 900 miles on it so this should help lengthen the life of the motorcycle engine. Escape: the filter is installed at about a 45 degree angle, which kinda worries me. The magnet doesn't stick terribly well to this filter, and I'm afraid a pothole might shake the magnet loose. I'm gonna keep an eye on the magnet and probably run a strip of Gorilla tape over the magnet/filter to help keep it in place. The oil pan is aluminum so I can't use the magnet there. I took it for a drive to see if it might move or shake loose but after 25 miles on the highway it was still in the same location I left it in. This vehicle has about 227K miles on it. That said, as I help maintain my family's vehicles this will be an experiment to see what turns up in the oil filters. The older vehicles should be interesting, especially the Escort. Looking back, I probably should have gone with a stick magnet for better adhesion and positioning but oh well. These look like solid products and have good construction.

What is protection worth?
What a small amount to pay to help the life of your engine. It's like having a little insurance. Also, I think it will help resale the car. In other words, if I was buying a car and the current owner had always had a magnet on the oil I would feel better about the engine.

Oil filter magnet
I have known about sub-Dimension metal particles for a very long time and have been using the best magnets available. Modern rare metal/ceramic magnets are far more efficient and will pull the smallest metal particles out of the engine oil as it passes through the oil filter - especially those that are too small for a Mobile 1 oil filter to stop. Engine life is drastically extended if abrasive and destructive steel metal particles are pulled from the oil. My 2003 Chevy Avalanche has about 255,600 miles on it and still uses Mobil 1. At her regular15,000 mile oil change she is usually only about a 1/2 qt low.
