Does the job well at the right price.

The good: Did what I needed it to do, add an extra Alsa input and output to my Linux computer. Using a USB audio device circumvents the multiple PCI sound card audio clock conflict I had run into very nicely. Excellent sound quality. Good quality overall at a great price. The not so good: Calling it "7.1 channel 3D virtual audio" is a joke. While the C-Media audio chip used in this device is in theory "capable" of 7.1 surround, 3D and all the other buzz words used to market it, fact is they are all disabled. It has one input and one output. Period. It simply does not have the added ports to support that kind of operation. I bought a similar USB sound device years ago (3D sound) and it was horrible. Worst audio quality imaginable. I literally crushed it in my bench vice to vent my ...

Save your money...This is not worth your time.

Every device I tried to use this adapter in ended in the same result. When I played back the recording using my laviler mic. Upon playing the recording back, there was a horrible high pitched squeal during the entire recording. The same result when I tried recording with my headset mic using this adapter. My laptop does not allow a 1/8" male plug so it requires an adapter with USB connection to use any external mic. which is why I bought this product. This product is an example of "getting what you pay for" and I suggest saving your money for a better quality higher priced adapter... This one is a total fail!

  • Preliminary testing shows its works

I plugged in this USB AudioOutput device into a Raspberry Pi Model 3 running Raspbian OS. With an earphone set pugged into its audio jack I was able to hear a sine wave alternately in each ear generated using 'speaker-test' program using parameters discovered using the 'aplay' program. Web links identifying these programs would have been helpful. There was no documentation.

  • Great little sound solution!

This is a great gadget. My computer headphone jack was going bad and would only play one channel at full headphone jack insert. I Just plugged this little guy in and it works great with good quality sound. At this price you can't really go wrong. It was for me a good solution to a common problem. The volume buttons on the unit work well also. Note that if you use this it will override your speaker output. However this was not an issue for me as I only use it for my headphones. Of course you could also use it as a speaker output. I can't say anything about the 7.1 surround claim however since my output is stereo speakers but I would definitely recommend this.

  • Just What I Needed

Out of nowhere, the sound on my Windows 10 gaming PC just stopped working. Nothing coming out of the speakers when plugged into anywhere on the case with any device, speakers or headphones. Tried updating every obscure driver I could Google, tried forcing it by disabling other devices, you name it - NOTHING. This little guy did the trick! Plugged into it and BOOM sound. I'm very frustrated with my motherboard's manufacturer but I am very happy with whomever designed this thing at a great price. There was an issue, however, when I plugged into a port and got a buzzing noise. I unplugged and re-plugged but the buzzing was still there. I switched USB ports and everything was fine. Again, great for the price!
