Husband's likes his phone with one exception
This Convoy 3 replaced my husband's original Convoy 1 and he is happy with everything except one thing. He has tried every setting there is but there is no way to increase the size of the text on text messages. His Convoy 1 had a setting for a larger text (maybe an extra large setting? IDK) but on the Convoy 3 there is only a large text setting that really isn't all that large. Considering the Convoy 1 was pretty much done for (camera messed up, shutting off unexpectedly and without reason, other old phone issues) and everything else on the Convoy 3 is fine for him, I have to say we are happy with the Convoy 3.This Convoy 3 replaced my husband's original Convoy 1 and he is happy with everything except one thing. XT9Word feature works less than previous model
If you use the XT9Word feature on a Samsung Convoy 2 phone you will NOT like this newer version. The Convoy 2 had the ability to "train" or "learn" words that you frequently used and it would add them to your dictionary list so that they would appear as an option in the future. The Samsung Convoy 3 does NOT have this ability. If you type "kno" for example it always tries to make you say "Jon" and eventually gives you the "know" option. I have phrases that we use often and they are a pain to type in...each and EVERY time. Spent hours chatting with Verizon (looking for a fix) and eventually Samsung and was eventually told that that functionality was available on the Convoy 2 but not the Convoy 3. Some upgrade - looks like they need to do some sort of software fix. Other than ... If you use the XT9Word feature on a Samsung Convoy 2 phone you will NOT like this newer version. Good for an active small woman with a bad wrist.
I wanted a basic flip cell phone with good reception for the mountains. It had to be Verizon or Page Plus usable, it had to be 3g, I am not using data now and don't want to pay for it. It had to be able to block or restrict unwanted calls, it had to be at least a little water proof. This phone is a very nice surprise. It does all of these things and more. I am on a big computer most of the day and don't want to carry a miniature computer on a walk or into archives . Flashlight is very bright, don't need to shop for another one. If I do a project where I am on the road and need to connect it to the internet, I can change my plan, seems very fast. One of the last VERY good touchscreen basic phones around
It appears carriers and phone manufacturers are pushing us all towards more costly equipment and smartphone/data plans. With most carriers, the line alone is more costly if you have a smartphone but not with this puppy. For some of us, it's important that we have a cell phone that functions primarily as a phone. With that however, flip phones are dated and there are some secondary functions that are important to us traditionalists. Texting is easy and if mobile email becomes so important for my wife, this phone is more than capable. Nice, easy, simple phone that makes my 50-something wife appear to be up to snuff with technology.It appears carriers and phone manufacturers are pushing us all towards more costly equipment and smartphone/data plans. Fuzzy close ups
This phone wont take clear pictures up close. Like if you wanted to take a picture of the ring on your hand it would be blurry. My Convoy 2 was the same way. I was hoping a newer model would fix the problem. No luck. I need a rugged flip phone that's why I bought it. Other than that it works great.
