Another Great Logitech Package, Works Very Well With Linux!
We recently migrated away from microsoft on all three of our computers. The only m.s. items I had left to get rid of was an old wired keyboard and mouse set. We are now a totally Linux environment, running Mint 19.2. I have used Logitech products for many years so naturally searched for replacements among their products. I wanted something wireless that was wide enough so I wouldn’t feel cramped but sleek enough to use up as little space as possible. I also wanted the palm rest and just the right layout of the keys on the right side. After lots of research, I selected the MK540. There wasn’t a lot of information online for Linux usage with this package . I turned to the Linux forums that, while the MK540 wasn’t named specifically, had a lot of positive feedback for other MK packages. It was enough to convince me to take a chance and I’m glad I did. The keyboard and mouse work perfectly! The keys are real smooth with rounded corners, just what I was looking for. There's no lag as has been reported on other Logitech items with Linux, and I type about 120 wpm. The mouse was a bit more sensitive than I was used to, but then I think that was just the old microsoft crapola. Like anything else new, it felt like home in a few days. Thankfully, I am now rid of the last microsoft items in my entire office setup.

Unless you NEED this keyboard / mouse I would look at something else.
There are two things that I do not like about this keyboard, and they are the low set keys, that make it Very easy to hit multiple keys at once, and the light grey-ish color that makes the contrast of the key "lables" difficult to see. You have guesed correctly that I am not skilled at typing so this keyboard is trying my patience BUT it does work flawlessly. The other issue is the included mouse that is really dirt cheap. Something that you would expect to be free or an afterthought in the package. In fact I believe that the 60-70 bucks that they get for this set is WAY too much for what you get because my less expensive Logitec keyboard was much better feeling, and looking (black with white "labels", and a multi function mouse for around 50 bucks all in). The only reason that I spent the 60 bucks on this set is because it is compatable with a KVM switch that I purchased that required a "Scroll Lock" key, and my previous Logitech keyboard does not have that key. So the new mouse (from this set) is in the closet, and I suffer through mistyped words with Lots of extra letters only because I really love the KVM switch.

The keyboard is made well with a quality feel when striking the keys. Once in a while there is a lag from key press to registering on the screen. This may be from WiFi interference, but it is a nuisance when it occurs. The mouse has a quality feel, but the accuracy in placement of the cursor is sometimes off, again possibly due to WiFi interference in my home.

Well-made, solidly built keyboard and mouse
Solid, well-made keyboard with nice feel to the keys. Can lay flat or be raised up for easy typing. Keys are nicely spaced. Mouse can be used for left or right-handed people. Very comfortable in the hand.
