About this product

Product Information

The fourth installment of Capcom's gothic action series is the first to feature a new protagonist: Nero, who enters battle with a double-barreled revolver called the "Blue Rose" and an ornate sword known as the "Red Queen." He is also a card-carrying member of the Order of the Sword, an organization systematically dismantled by former series protagonist, Dante. Nero's power is not limited to his distinctive weapons, however. Nero's right arm, a.k.a. "the devil bringer," is imbued with an ethereal glow and is a source of supernatural strength. The demonic appendage lets him perform feats of agility not possible by mere mortals, such as grabbing enemies from afar, slamming them into the ground, spinning them overhead, or initiating various other context-sensitive moves.<br><br>Players can once again freely switch between melee and projectile attacks to string together elaborate combos, with bonus points awarded for style. By varying his attacks and minimizing the damage received in each level, Nero will earn "Proud Souls" to spend on sword combos, bullets, and improved attributes. Fans of earlier versions can still collect health-enhancing orbs from defeated enemies and initiate "devil trigger" transformations for temporary boosts in speed and power. Throughout his demon-slaying journey, Nero must solve environment-based puzzles and confront towering boss creatures, with each conquest allowing him the opportunity to upgrade his powerful arm. Dante is also playable at certain points in Devil May Cry 4, which according to producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, features more content than the first three titles combined.<br><br>The collector's edition of Devil May Cry 4 includes a number of bonuses designed to appeal to longtime fans of Capcom's critically acclaimed series. Packaged in a distinctive "steel book" case, the game is bundled with the first volume of ADV Films' Devil May Cry: The Animated Series. A total of four episodes are available on the DVD: "Devil May Cry," "Highway Star," "Not Love," and "Rolling Thunder." Three additional volumes are planned, each offering four episodes apiece, and will be available to U.S. audiences in 2008. Also featured in the collector's edition is an exclusive DVD-ROM with music from the soundtrack, a digital art book, a featurette on the game's development, and an assortment of wallpapers, icons, and screen savers to personalize computer desktops.

  • Great Game My rating 8.0/10.0

You'll probably remember Devil May Cry 3 for the PlayStation 2 as being an unfairly difficult game, yet one that rewarded your patience with a slew of high-quality action. If playing it gave you tears of frustration, you'll be happy to learn that although this sequel is a challenge, it's by no means an extreme one. In fact, you're given an excellent number of gameplay choices that help you tailor the challenge to your preferences. You can initially choose one of two difficulties (and if you want to cry like a little girl, you can unlock several more), and you can even choose whether you want the game to perform some combos for you automatically. No, you aren't apt to find Devil May Cry 4 to be excessively tough on your first play-through, though it is no walk in the park either. However, ...

  • Devil May Cry 4 is lacking all around

I am truly a long time Devil May Cry fan. I got the first Devil May Cry when it first came out without even thinking twice about it. Devil May Cry 4 is very disappointing to a fan like me. It&apos;s pretty much a combination of all the past games with little new stuff added. So there isn&apos;t really any improvement in DMC 4. The story line is ok if that, it is very repetitive. You go so far out there and then you have to come all the way back the same way. There is very little diversity among the monsters. Dante&apos;s weapons suck except for the gauntlets which are pretty much the same as DMC 1 without the fireballs. The combat is fun but I find myself mostly using the swordmaster class because it&apos;s the only way to do aerial combos. Any other class and the combat gets very ...

  • An excellent game

Well, im a follower of this saga, first i played DVM 3 in playstation 2 and was awesome, i never has been played a similar game with a combination of speed movements and different types of weapons, later i try DVM 2 and isnt good than the 3 but maintein the same type of game. When i hear the about the four part obviously i thinked "i must play that game", i wait for the special edition because i was interested in the anime too, the game is great and have excellents graphics and animations and you can choose between various different difficulties. In form of a critic i can say is a little short and the levels and puzzles are more easy than the previous games.

  • More than just an action game.

This is a great game. Many have tried, and many have failed to make so good and so epic action game series like Devil May Cry is.And this one particulary is good one in the series. It uses many elements from the previous games and adds a new ones.Beautiful graphics, music, gameplay, just everything. Get this game you won't regeret it.
