GE Condenser Fan motor replacement 5KCP39EGY823S
The unit received was a 5KCP39EGY823S which is a replacement for my original Carrier 5KCP39EGS070S condenser fan motor. It is a quality built motor that should last more than 15 years. My original unit was a 5KCP39EGS070S and it is 20 years old that started to sequel due to lack of oil on the sleeve bearings. Luckily, I have oiled its bearings about 5 years ago and it was dried out in the coldest day of the year (18 F). I removed the old fan motor and lubricated the sleeve bearing cotton well (using electrical motor lubricant SAE-20 similar to the sowing machine oil) and it ran for another week perfectly, since the sleeve bearing was not burned out, and I was lucky to catch it as soon as it started making squealing noise. There are videos on You Tube on this subject and it only takes about 1 hour for a novice to do that. Note: you will save $500-$800 for a service call. I replace the old motor with the new one received and kept the old motor as the backup.
