The story of Andromeda begins between the second and third entries of the original Mass Effect trilogy, when each of the four Citadel Council races agree to send 20,000 people on a 600-year journey to help colonize planets in the Andromeda Galaxy. Gamers play as Sara Ryder or her twin brother Scott (both characters can be given customized first names and appearances) as they explore new planets, form relationships, and engage in real-time combat. Ryder can travel around the galaxy in a ship called Tempest, while planetary exploration takes place in an all-terrain vehicle from which players can scan for resources. Dialogue between characters plays an important role in Andromeda, with gamers choosing from four response types and occasionally an action prompt, and conversations may contain moral decisions that affect Ryder's relationships, some of which may grow romantic. Unlike previous games in the series, players are not bound by specific character classes. As they complete missions they can level up and unlock dozens of combat, tech, and biotics skills, and more than 300 skill upgrades. Gamers will also eventually unlock seven different profiles that add more bonuses to their preferred method of playing, and they can switch between four different profiles at any time. Combat in Mass Effect: Andromeda was designed to be faster and more fluid than in previous titles, with a new dynamic cover system and a jetpack that lets players hover in midair. Gamers can use guns, melee attacks, and special skills to attack foes, and they get help in battle from six squadmates, each with three active skills and two passive skills. Players can order their squad around the battlefield, choose how they want their skills to evolve, and they can also team up for special Power Combo attacks. Multiplayer fans can also join friends for co-op action.

Good game, with some overlooked bugs.
Good story, detailed combat, and an interesting universe. It does like to pause and load mid driving around a planet and god help you if you die while a cut-scene or a transition occurs, because then you'll be ending the game process and re-launching, no handling for those situations.

Enjoyed all 3 mass effects, but the Text size too small for big screen tvs on this one. beware
Although the graphics are cool, the text is soooo small as to be barely readable. Numerous complaints have been made to the authors to enlarge the text and, or make a sliding scale for text size, nothing has been done about it. Sadly I cannot even play the game without standing in front of my TV with my reading glasses on. I played all 3 mass effects and they are some of my favorite games, but this one, for me, is unplayable without an update to fix the font sizes. I'm 73 with okay vision, but wear glasses, so if you want other opinions, do a search for Mass Effect Andromeda text too small. People say it's okay on the computer, but on big screen TVs is where the trouble shows up. I hope they fix it. The main female character of Ryder, as well as other females, just do not look right. Their expressions are dead, their eyes look as if they are staring into space. The animations are stiff and the lip syncing are all wrong. This issue isn’t that bad on the male characters, but it is noticeably bad on the attractiveness of the female form. I do not know what statement BioWare was trying make, (if that was the case), but they failed in that area. Additionally, the game is buggy as hell. Characters drop through the floor, guns are held backward, hands are rendered looking as if the wrist was flat, plant life blends in as if growing out of the characters. I also noticed that some of the Non-Playable Characters (NPC) are identical to the other as if they had cut and paste faces onto some of the NPC. SOUND: The voice acting can use some help. Some of the characters are awesome, yet some of the others sound as if they are just going through the motion. While the musical score is good yet some of the sounds are wrong. The jets pack sounds like a barking dog in an echo chamber. Some of the weapons are great and some of them sound hollow. Mainly, the sound is just there. WRITING: Some of the writing is really bad yet the story is compelling and engaging. Some of the character lines are laughable while others are intelligent. All in all this game is inconsistent and unless you can get a good deal on it, or until BioWare fixes these glaring issues, this game is not work the full price. One would think BioWare would learn from the Mass Effect 3 debacle but from the looks of things I do not think they learned anything.
