About this product

Product Information

Scatological and sentimental, satirical and sincere, 50 FIRST DATES pairs Adam Sandler with Drew Barrymore in this romantic comedy about the power of love and short-term memory loss in Hawaii. Henry Roth (Sandler), the local marina veterinarian, only dates tourists because he's afraid of commitment--that is, until he meets Lucy (Barrymore). Unfortunately, Lucy lost her short-term memory months ago in a car accident, and for her, each day is October the 13th. She follows the same routine every day--breakfast at the same restaurant, pineapple-picking with her dad, and eventually bed time, where sleep wipes away her short-term memory. Henry, however, refuses to be forgotten, and as his puppy love matures, he embarks on a quest to restore her memory, or at least be a part of her everyday routine. But vying for Lucy's attention isn't always easy. Sandler explores various neophytic approaches before making a video for Lucy to watch every morning, reminding her of who she is and what she's doing. The film includes a trademark Sandler ballad as Henry serenades Lucy with his ukulele and a series of familiar salacious puns. Rob Schneider plays Henry's best friend, a goofy native stoner whose physical hijinks earn numerous laughs, and a cameo by Dan Akroyd as Lucy's doctor rounds out the cast.

  • It's a tender love story with with some humorous moments

I ordered this DVD after watching the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Remember Sunday. My husband & I saw this movie in a local theater in our city, Beverly, MA. Cabot Cinema is a treasure. It's a theater built in the 1920's (one screen). We enjoyed this movie very much. After viewing Remember Sunday, I ordered this DVD to view this movie again. Right near the beginning, a walrus vomits all over a Russian handler at the aquarium and then Adam Sandler and the walrus "high five". In a way, it's kinda sad because Drew Barrymore's character has lost her short-term memory, so every day, she has to figure out who these people who are now in her life, after a vehicle accident the year prior to the beginning of this story. Adam Sandler's character devises a video Drew's character can view each morning ...

  • Really great Romantic comedy

50 First Dates is a Romantic Comedy at it's best. Sandler does a very good job in this charming film!! I wasn't that pumped to watch this movie but when I did I really enjoyed it. Sandler and Barrymoore have great on screen chemistry and the movie itself is really well scripted and features a great supporting cast. I'm not a huge Sandler fan but this was one of my favorite Sandler films. Final Verdict: 4/5 Rent or Buy?: Romantic comedy fans and Sandler fans must buy.

  • 50 First Dates (2004, DVD)

Is there any way I could just forget this movie? I'm a fan of Adam Sandler. Am I a huge fan? No. But I do like his humor and I've been a fan of most of his movies. Mostly, I just like it when he flies off the handle and screams. It's funny to me in a very baseless, kindergarten way. But at least I like it. Drew Barrymore on the other hand...well, I haven't liked her in a movie since the last one she did with Sandler. Which might be why they decided to team up again. Sandler (I forget his name in the movie) is a guy that likes to love `em and leave `em. He meets the tourists, bangs them, gives them some hokey lie about who he is - and he's on to the next one. And this seems to be working for him. He's got some weird friends and an odd job as a marine mammal veterinarian (is there such a ...

  • Aloha

This is one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies. This one makes me laugh every time I watch it, it never gets old. It takes place in Hawaii, Adam Sandler's character (Henry) meets Drew Barrymore's character (Lucy) at a local diner. He falls for her, but there's one problem. She can't remember him because she has short term memory loss. So every day he tries to make her fall in love with him. The other cast is great as well. Sean Astin (Lord of The Rings) and Rob Schneider (The Hot Chick) are also in this movie. Both are hilarious. If you're a fan of any of these actors you should definitely watch this movie.
