About this product

Product Information

After a twelve-year hiatus, Bruce Willis is back as New York City detective John McClane, who still plays by his own set of rules. Following DIE HARD (1988), DIE HARDER (1990), and DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE (1995), the fourth installment in the popular action series stars DEADWOOD's Timothy Olyphant as Thomas Gabriel, an evil mastermind who is determined to bring down the entire infrastructure of the United States on Independence Day, sending the country into anarchy and chaos. Joining him on his mission of destruction is the elegant Mai, played by Maggie Q from MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III. McClane becomes involved when he gets caught in the crossfire while transporting prisoner Matt Farrell (Justin Long, most well known as the mac in a series of computer commercials), a hacker extraordinaire who is the perfect complement to the old-school McClane, who eschews cell phones, computers, and doing anything the easy way. But when Gabriel kidnaps McClane's daughter, Lucy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, from the DEATH PROOF section of GRINDHOUSE), it gets personal. Full of the sarcastic humor, exciting action sequences -- including flying cars -- and fun characters that have defined the series, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARDER is an excellent addition, directed by Len Wiseman (UNDERWORLD and UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION). The plot was based on a magazine article, "A Farewell to Arms," written by John Carlin, that appeared in a 1997 issue of WIRED magazine. The movie also features Kevin Smith as a computer geek -- er, expert -- known as Warlock, who still lives in his mother's basement. Yippee-ki-yay indeed.

A long missed comedy series that was just as funny to watch now as when it was a regular on TV in the 70s! I'm very happy with the purchase - item was exactly as listed, well packed, shipped fast, plays perfectly, and an excellent value. An A++ transaction! Would not hesitate to buy from this seller again. Thank you!

  • Awesome !!!! Long Live McClane !!!!

"Live Free or Die Hard" is the viscerally adrenaline-charged action-fueled new installment of the "Die Hard Saga". "A Timex Watch in a Digital Age," sneers Villain Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) of NYPD Cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) in 'Live Free or Die Hard', the exhilarating fourth installment in the "Die Hard" Series. The first since 1995's 'Die Hard: With a Vengeance'. Willis was 40yrs old then; past 50yrs old now, the only thing he has lost is the rest of his hair. And Gabriel is right, McClane is a relic from an Analog World; yet he also forgets the Timex slogan: "It takes a licking but keeps on ticking", and so—gloriously—does McClane. McClane remains the resolutely retro flatfoot Warrior, but Mark Bomback's screenplay reflects our Post 9/11, Post-Katrina Age where official ...

  • Live Free or Die Hard

When someone hacks into the computers at the FBI's Cyber Crime Division; the Director decides to round up all the hackers who could have done this. When he's told that because it's the 4th of July most of their agents are not around so they might have trouble getting people to get the hackers. So he instructs them to get local PD'S to take care of it. And one of the cops they ask is John McClane who is tasked with bringing a hacker named Farrell to the FBI. But as soon as he gets there someone starts shooting at them. McClane manages to get them out but they're still being pursued. And it's just when McClane arrives in Washington that the whole system breaks down and chaos ensues. Willis is in his element. Olyphant is perfectly ice cold. Some great action sequences, including a fight to ...

  • Bruce Willis Rocks Again!

Great action-packed movie completes the series with its lead character now helping to protect national security. This movie shows how devastating it would be if our use of all our convenient technology was suddenly unavailable. For the first-time viewer, it's filled with amazing action scenes throughout. For the dedicated fan, its a great addition to your collection for repeat viewing.

  • A good action title

They are really great movies, Bruce Willis is what makes the movie more interesting along with the other actors.

  • Die Hard 4, originals are still the best.

Something about the original Die Hard that makes me happy. maybe when he says Yippe Ka YAY #^%#*. and the bad guys Hanz Gruber.. when he says Nice Suite i have 3 of them.. even part 2 with the plane and part 3 was excellent. this one was ok.. it just wasnt the same and didnt have that warm FUZZY feeling that the first one gives.
