    Just a good lens

I love how it feels and the way is constructed, is a good lens, however the lens have some stuff I don't like, the way it changes to macro mode is a bit enoying, you need to go over 180mm then switch the botton, also the switch/ button to AF-MF is to cheap and gets stuck some times, also the AF is not accurate, the lack of image stabilizer make it hard to take good pictures when going over 135mm, I recommend to use it with a good tripod or if taking hand hold pictures use a high speed shuter and dont go over 135mm, also if you are looking to get pictures for indoor or low light photography you will have troble, but over all is a good lens, is not sharp but is not bad either, you can get good nature and close outdoor sports.

  • Great value for the price!

I absolutely LOVE this lens! It's a bit heavy, but the quality of the photo is fantastic. It took me a while to adjust to the focus, but once you can get the settings down, you will be able to snap away. I bought this lens because I needed closer shots in my regular daily life. The 15-85mm just didn't cut what I needed. This switch is perfect, and it's an easy transition. If you get this lens, I would recommend purchasing a larger camera bag (if you don't have one already). It's too much for a small bag. I'm not certain about any other lenses, but I know that this one, compared to the typical lens is great. Like I said, a slower shutter speed, but what can you expect for such close up shots.

  • A Replacement

Stated simply the one I just purchased is for a replacement for one I've had about 5 years. I don't recommend dropping it on concrete which is why I needed the replacement. While no one likes having to replace something broken because of their own stupidity, I was determined to get it replaced and was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price. While the 300 telephoto aspect of the lens most likely get used more than the macro feature but I find I use the macro quite frequently with good results.

  • Okay but spend the extra couple $ to get the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III

I bought this lens for a local yearbook program. The build of the lens felt and looked good, even a little better than the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III possibly. I took the lens, along with the Canon 75-300, and the Canon 70-300 IS USM to a local soccer match to compare them (no filters used). It was cloudy but bright day. The Tamron lens had the most haze by far! The Canon 75-300 had some haze while the 70-300 was clear. The other annoying part for me was that the twist zoom on the Tamron is backwards from the Canon. I am sure if you only used the Tamron that you would get used to it, but for someone that uses Canon brand lenses, I kept twisting the wrong way when trying to zoom. I tested the lens later that day when it was completely sunny and still felt like it had more ...

  • Replaced my lens with the same

Love this lens, it is the same brand as the one I have used for years. The one that I had finally gave out, had to replace it right away.
