The leader of the prisoners, played by Vinnie Jones (LOCK, STOCK, AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS), is a former soccer star who is asked by the warden to coach a team of prison guards. An EXCELLENT remake!
I saw this movie while stationed overseas. I've always loved the original The Longest Yard, and Adam Sandler did a fantastic job with the remake. I was sceptical about a UK remake. However Vinnie Jones is fantastic in the role made famous by Burt Reynolds! The rest of the casting was equally superb (though I would have like to have seen more of Jason Strathom). Give this movie a chance and you will not be dissapointed! Full of laughs, I guarantee you'll want to have this in your library to watch again and again!I saw this movie while stationed overseas. Good Soccer Movie
I saw this movie on cable and I liked it a lot. It's a British remake of "The Longest Yard." I think it's better than the 1974 Burt Reynold's film. It's funnier than that one and probably more likeable like the Adam Sandler 2005 version. Instead of football, the prisoners are playing soccer. Vinnie Jones (LOCK, STOCK, AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS and he was Bullet Tooth Tony in SNATCH) is a soccer star who goes to prison for fixing a game. He's not well liked and he has to prove himself to everyone. The big climax of the film is the soccer game played by the inmates vs. the guards.
