About this product

Product Information

Disaster Report casts players in the role of a reporter named Keith Helm trying to uncover the story of a lifetime: the person or persons responsible for the collapse of an entire city. The problem? The reporter is in the city as it starts crumbling into the ocean. Armed only with a backpack, a map, and a compass, players must navigate their way through the ravaged urban landscapes while piecing together the clues behind the city's downfall. Fire, earthquakes, collapsing buildings, and other dangers can strike without warning, and a number of citizens may be trapped in harm's way.

Played primarily from a third-person perspective behind the lead character, Disaster Report makes use of two horizontal gauges to monitor health and thirst as well as a compass icon to indicate the direction the character is facing. To obtain a closer look at the surroundings, a first-person view can be accessed with a press of a button. Players can use objects found within the environment to help save potential victims, assemble makeshift items (like torches or flashlights) by combining objects, and learn more about the situation by reading found documents or listening to recordings.

As players explore the various regions of the city, which include a residential area, suspended bridge, sports stadium, harbor station, and office towers, they will be able to meet and cooperate with police officers, doctors, and other citizens in need. To help survive the ordeal, the character can brace himself at the onset of a tremor, cling to surfaces or hide, shout out to others, climb, run, and use transportation such as bicycles if available. Each action makes the character tired and more dehydrated over time, which can be countered by drinking water and finding first aid kits.

    A different gaming experience.

This game delivers a good and diferent experience. It reminds me of an other great game, THE LAST OF US. Even theo they are years apart and you dont get to fight zombies, this game gets you into collecting items in your backpack. This gets you into exploring the terrain. The graphics are outdated and not at all like The last of us but this is still a fun game to play for its time. This being a rare game, makes a great must have for any ps2 collector.

    Sounds Good On Paper

Without watching a video of this game, you will be stuck in 2 minutes from the start. Too bad, I paid almost $50 for this in great shape, wanted to like it.

  • Fun.....but not great.....

WAIT! BEFORE YOU READ THIS, IF YOU DO NOT LIKE GAMES WITH SO-SO GRAPHICS AND CHUNKY CONTROLS THEN YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS GAME. IF YOU DON'T MIND THEN GO AHEAD AND READ! The main reason I got this game was because of its story(the whole get out of a city in an earthquake thing,) and because of how fun that idea sounded when put into a video game. So I got it and played away, and the first thing I saw was that the graphics were really... mediocre. It didn't bother me at all, but if you have high expectations on looks, you won't like this game. The gameplay isn't the smoothest, but is very unique. You have a health bar and a hydration bar, if you get hurt or injured, your life goes down, and if your hydration bar goes down you need to drink water or else your health slowly decreases ...

  • Great, but not 100%

I got this game in a lot of games I bought on ebay. I'm glad I tried it before I sold it. The game puts you in a city on a man made island. A large earthquake has happened, and the city (and island) are falling apart. The graphics are not great but they're not bad either. The play control is not great, but it's not bad either. Actually, the whole game is not great, but not bad either. The thing that makes this such a great title is that it's really FUN to play. Isn't that what games are for? The story is cool, and has a twist or two. With just a few changes it could've been a great story. The play control is SOMETIMES rough, until you get used to it. The camera occasionally goes into those "What the heck?! NOOoooo!! angles, but once you get used to the controls, those are few and far ...

  • Disaster Report PS2

Disaster Report: chances are you've probably never heard of the game. It plays like any other survival horror game (Resident Evil series, Silent Hill series) but it takes out the horror part. I rented this game when it first came to the U.S., and I was impressed. It dosen't have the best graphics or voice-acting, and it's a very short game, but it is the most different game I have ever played. It allows you to use items you collect in the game to create better items, which is something I haven't seen really used before. It also has a good storyline (even though the voice-acting is some of the worst I have ever heard). If you can get over the fact that it has a lot of bad parts, you'll enjoy this rare and unique game.
