    MEDIOCRE MANILOW!

    I was excited to see this CD on Ebay. I have been a Barry Manilow fan for a number of years, but somehow seemed to have missed this release. The CD says it is Barry with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Harry James Orchestra, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and several others. Most of the tunes are from the '40's, like "moonlight Serenade," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," etc., and there are some special guests such as Rosemary Clooney. Sound great? Well, it is basically Barry Manilow "elevator music." The arrangements are so-so, and inconsistent along with various odd studio "acoustics" from song to song. Several sound like they are recorded in Grand Central Station...there is so much reverb! Otherwise it sounds like Barry is just grinding it out by the pound!
