  • AWESOME !!!! A Throwback to 80's Slashers !!!! BRAVO

    In the Post-Scream era, it's been tough for Horror Filmmakers to create effective slasher movies. Yet the Genre rose from the ashes with masterpieces, and the far less reputable slasher flick has been reinvigorated in the last couple of years by a group of talented "fans-turned-filmmakers". Eli Roth injected satire on contemporary American Foreign Policy into the mix with the 'Hostel' films; Rob Zombie fused Horror conventions with those of the Western for the Masterful 'The Devil's Rejects' and Scott Glosserman deconstructed slasher clichés with wit and irony in the self-conscious 'Behind the Mask'. Now we have Adam Green's 'Hatchet', a horror movie in tradition of 'Friday the 13th' and its imitators that ...

  • Hatchet

    It is what it says it is. "Old school American horror." The plot is straight out of the 80's Slasher genre. A group of generaly unlikeable tourists are fooling enough to pay money to go on a tour of a haunted swamp. Low & behold, they end up stranded & running afoul a deformed murderous psycho. Who would've thought? It was made as a throw-back to the '80's horror movies. It shows killings for the sake of gore & women taking off their clothes for the sake of showing nudity. But, you already know that this is what you're going to be watching as soon as you look at the DVD case. The swamp scenery is great, as is the atmosphere. The characters are borderline obnoxious, but that probably is intentional. So, I'd ...

  • WEAK!!! NOT COMPARABLE TO NEW AGE HORROR

    This film is so pathetic it's almost impossible to write a review. I'm a huge fan of new age horror such as saw, the descent, hostel, high tension, etc, and for me this movie was a disgrace and shouldn't have the title of horror. The story is terrible, starts out with a group of people enjoying marti gras, which is very tacky involves lots of nudity, and tons of stupidity. Very dumb story. After 3/4 of the movie you finally see some gore but absolutely no thrills/chills, no edge of your seat terror, just stupid retro 80's horror, which is not even comparable with the horror of today. Overall if you like old 'classic' horror then this show might be for you, otherwise it's a ton of cheesy effects, a dumb crew, stupid story, and a huge bore. Skip this movie ...

  • Hatchet (2007, DVD)

    A motley crew of tourists embark on a boat ride of the haunted Louisiana bayous where they learn the terrifying tale of local legend "Victor Crowley"; a horribly disfigured man who was tragically and accidentally killed with a hatchet by the hands of his own father. But when the boat sinks and the ghost story turns out to be real, the group tries desperately to escape the swamp with their lives...and all of their pieces. This too is based on a true story.....really..Kind of rough but an all out Good movie for Late Late night when you just can't sleep....... {Mrs. puman}

  • Rave Reviews For The Movie Hatchet Starring Kane Hodder

    I purchased the movie Hatchet as a present for my husband. We had never heard of this movie until I was surfing the web one day and came across movie previews. My hubby is a fan of Kane Hodder and the trailer really appealed to us. I am so glad for this purchase as we have enjoyed the movie more than was expected. I would definetly reccommend this movie to any horror/gore fans out there. But I also warn that if you do not like blood, guts, violence and gore DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!!! It is very grafic and detailed. The story line is very well done, not corney or goofy like most gore movies, even though there is some comedy in the script. Happy viewing of a movie that doesn't let you down straight through to the ending! Jimmie H.
