  • Either you love it or you hate it.

Very touching story, either you love it or hate it. Rome is bitterly mourning the death of his wife and sons a few years ago. Sarah raised in a home without love has always felt inadequate. She loved Rome from afar and when he decides to fill his empty life with a wife he chooses Sarah. I think that Howard did an excellent job of showing a woman who could endure a man's weakness long enough for him to regain the courage to love her the way she deserved. Some may be put off by Rome's over the top crudness at times. Sarah seems to be very mousey by today's standards, but I think she showed courage by making some difficult, risky choices. Very intense at times, this read is not sweet romance. One for the keeper shelf.

  • A moving and true to life story in these pages.

This book was such a great read, heart breaking at times and it was a book you could feel a relationship with. I love Linda Howard's books and this one was a moving story line that held your interest to the last page. It also makes you stop and think as the events were true to life and you could relate to them all. I recommend this book very much.
