However, unknown to both of us, the part in question turned out to be broken instead of dislocated, so I decided to remove from packaging and see what could be done. Good news is that parts could still be aligned for transformation and did not affect the car mode stability. Issue was from age/manufacturing, even if NIB. Absolutely love this classic cell.
It is easil fits into my front shirt pocket. VERY LONG battery life and gotta love that. I have a state of the art laptop if I need a computer. SCREW all those high priced data plans with this phone. Saving money IS making money. The Trumps of this world do this EVERY DAY! Rest my case. Thank you.

It is a bit quirky: neat stuff is a few too many clicks away. It seems to browse and talk really well. Some of the keyboard integration seems odd, like + add favorite is not a + key suggestion but a menu line, some pretty common characters did not make it onto keys, like the '+', and sometimes it is hard to get to the so far two different "pick a symbol" screens. The camera lens is hard to protect, being right where you grasp the lid to open it. Figuring out where to pry it open takes a while, as it is almost square and there is no special tactile clue you have the right edge. Even with big fonts, much of the text is hard for my old eyes to see. The camera and screen are wide, which is usually OK. Great Design, execution slightly flawed
((( DESIGN ))) 5 Stars Sturdy, oversized clamshell with durable hinge and large screen. Excellent qwerty pad with devoted question mark, exclamation, shift, and text keys. Layout is intuitive. Outer music control keys don't aren't easy to accidentally activate (no worries about becoming a butt DJ!). Phone is solid and feels like an actual phone when you talk into it. CONS: The front cover is an etched metallic affair that is susceptible to scratching. For guys, the scrolly design is girly. Thankfully, there is a black version that is made of the (rubber coated?) material that covers the Lotus's backside. It is more resistant to damage and feels more durable. I took several with mine and was able to capture decent footage indoors under fluorescent lights. You won't get quality with it but it is great for an impromptu capture when you have nothing else. Browser loads at decent speed. The best feature aside from its design is probably sprint's carousel menu, which you can customize. Basically, instead of having a large menu take up your screen, the menu is located on the bottom and you scroll through it. Easy, one touch access to most of your apps. I have not used the music player enough to review it, sorry. Text messages are shown chat style so that you can view conversations as actual conversations. CONS: Carousel menu doesn't hide; 1/4 of your screen is constantly devoted to it. You also can't customize the colors so no matter your background, it is black with sprint yellow highlighting. I am a Dallas Cowboy fan and hate that my screen has Pittsburgh colors :) Camera lags. You will not be able to take an action photo with it. No flash. There are some phone apps/menus that you can't assign as tiles in the carousel menu, which is annoying, as you should be able to customize any of your phone's features into 'one touch' access since the pride of Sprin'ts carousel menu is touted as 'one touch'. Can't use ringtones you download onto your SD card. There is a work around but it is complicated and something you have to google for. File system is extremely unintuitive. Videos are located under photos and 'My Stuff' does not include your SD card. You access your SD through 'photos' as well. Entertainment Music takes you to their store and not to your music fiies. Clunky to learn and tricky to remember if you don't use those features on a normal basis. ((( TECHNICAL ))) 3 Stars Here is where the Lotus has faults. Keep in mind this may just be my experience. Call quality is good. Speaker phone works well enough to hear in a car. My first phone had great battery life. I am a very light phone user and I was able to charge it every couple days, plus I had a good amount of life left with one bar showing. I dumped my first phone into the water and the replacement has not been as long lasting. I make maybe 3-4 calls a day, 20 texts, and am charging nightly, sometimes twice a day. CONS: Highly sensitive to water. Do not set this on a remotely moist surface or use in light rain or fog. My battery lasted less than a year with extremely light use. Not sure about the antenna. We live in a Sprint dead zone and have been given an Airwave to boost signal. Even with it, I get occasional dropped calls.

Really like this phone
I've always been a fan of flip phones but texting on them can be tedious. The Lotus has a great QWERTY keyboard that's super easy to use, unlike the iphone and other touch screen phones. Good sound quality, decent camera, sturdy build. What I don't like is the browser, it really sucks. But I installed Opera Mini so that pretty much solved that problem. Also the phone can be a bit laggy at times. Overall a great phone if you text alot and care about voice quality in a phone.I've always been a fan of flip phones but texting on them can be tedious. This is a great phone if you are a heavy texter. The Qwerty keypad is a pleasure when you are in a hurry to respond. The music player on this phone is great. It plays music louder the my iPod. All you have to do it put a micro SD card in the slot preloaded with your music. This ringer on this phone is good and loud as well, easy to hear in a crowded room. Battery life is great (unless you are playing music nonstop). The back grounds for the phone front and back are customizable with your own wall paper. The menu of this phone is basic and a little hard to find what you need but over all I am satisfied with it as a phone. The stand by on this phone, when not in use, will go for days. I'd say if you can find this phone with charger and battery if fair condition and a clear ESN it is well ... This is a great phone if you are a heavy texter.
