    An excellent DAC preamp with the right power.

    I picked one of these up used for its MQA feature to use with Tidal Master files. (Here I use an iPhone/iPad and the Camera Connection Kit into a USB A to B cable, into the USB connector on the Pro-Ject unit. Make sure the volume on the phone is turned up to max so there is not digital volume alteration of the original digital stream) My first impression of the Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 was quite disappointing using the supplied power adapter. I could hear what MQA and 24bit/96khz were trying to do, but it couldn't create a cohesive, stable reproduction of the music, at least not compared to the Centrance DAC Mini which could produce more satisfying music from 16/44.1 files. Rather than buy a high quality power supply (such as the iFi recommended at $50) I though I would just use a 10000ah ...
