Genuine Ford Part and You can Key it Yourself if You are Good with your Hands.
Identical to the Ford dealership part with Ford packaging and instructions. I tried to get a locksmith to key it for me on Saturday, but that was too expensive and most were closed. I decided to try it myself and I was able to get it done. I used a set of dial calipers to measure the key cuts and select the right tumblers. All you need in the way of parts are in the part kit that comes together. The only challenge was bending some small tabs on the face plate. The instructions mentioned a special tool which of course I don't have. I managed to get the tabs bent and it works like a new one. The most important learning in all of this is do not leave your lock laying on the bumper. Leave the key in the lock until your are ready to reinstall it.Identical to the Ford dealership part with Ford packaging and instructions. Factory parts and easy to re-key to existing key.
This worked great. For whatever reason my original lock would not turn (it was not corroded at all) so it had to be busted out from the back side. I used this kit to replace the lock and re-key it to my existing truck key. It was a simple procedure with excellent instructions. All I needed was a pair of dial calipers to measure the humps on my existing key. There are only 5 possible measurements so you don't have to be so precise because you compare what you get with one of the possible values. Each value determine which of the numbered tumblers to use. I almost left the old lock out but I couldn't stand seeing the hole where it was supposed to be so for $38 shipped I thought it was value to me to replace it.This worked great. Authentic Ford lock . Excellent quality , you need to have your key code number to make it easier to install the tumblers. Make sure you assemble the lock on a clean and bright work surface as the tumbler springs are very small . There are more than enough tumblers and springs . If you dont have the key code the instructions show you how to measure the key to match the proper number tumblers . The instructions say the tumblers are numbered 1 through 10 but they are not . The bags are numbered 1 through 5 , there are 2 sets which are right and left . So there is 1 through 5 rights and 1 through 5 lefts . Also instructions show Rotunda tool 501-051 is needed to crimp the shutter cover to the lock , I was able to crimp the tabs with a hammer and chinsel . As you can see this is a little ...
