Face it, your resin is shot.
If the resin bed in your water softener is much more than 7 years old, the odds are your resin is just too old and contaminated. Don't waste your time and money (I did) on concoctions that promise to bring your ailing softener back to life. Buy the proper amount of high quality resin beads specified for your unit, tear it apart (not that hard, check You Tube), clean it out, replace the resin, reassemble and you're done with it. This system is just a slowed down siphon that dispenses real fast at first, then slows to a crawl and stops towards the end of the bottle. I noticed little if any improvement in the water from my 12 year old softener, plus this treatment left a gummy, blue scum inside my brine tank that was difficult to scrub out when I gave up and did the job right.If the resin bed in your water softener is much more than 7 years old, the odds are your resin is just too old and contaminated.
