Cushioned quality tape
The Sram SuperSuede handlebar tape is a quality product--it is strong so you can wrap it tightly without tearing it, it provides a good grip without being slippery (even when wet), and it provides good cushioning from the vibrations caused by less than ideal pavement. The only drawback is the overuse of Sram imprinting on the tape which occurs approximately every inch and a half.
