About this product

Product Information

Adults who may have been turned off by the more kid-friendly elements of the first two Potter films should sit up and cheer; this fourth installment of Harry's adventures at the magic school of Hogwarts is more mature and darker than its immediate predecessor. This year, Hogwarts is hosting the Tri Wizard festival, and there may be a plot afoot to off Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) during the proceedings. Hermione (Emma Watson) finds a man worthy of her in competing Russian Quidditch champion Viktor Krum (Stanislav Ivaneski), to the chagrin of Ron Weaselly (Rupert Grint) who, though growing into a fine, shaggy orange-haired figure of a lad, is still not quite mature enough to ask Hermione to the Yule ball. Krum's teacher may be involved in the dastardly get-Harry plot, which involves writhing snake tattoos, skull clouds, death-eaters, tournaments with live dragons, a submersible schooner, and a competing school of poised and beautiful girls run by Maxime (Frances de la Tour), who shares a romantic past with gamekeeper Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane). All the other favorites of the series are back as well, including Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, and Gary Oldman, with Timothy Spall as the odious Wormtail, while a new addition to the A-list thespian roster is Ralph Fiennes. Director Mike Newell takes plenty of time to explore character development, but the story still gallops along at a breathless pace, with memorably intense moments involving fire-spewing dragons, dark magical rites, and near-drownings at the hands of slimy mer-people, all of which may prove too much for the youngest of viewers. Everyone else is advised to hold on tight.

A long missed comedy series that was just as funny to watch now as when it was a regular on TV in the 70s! I'm very happy with the purchase - item was exactly as listed, well packed, shipped fast, plays perfectly, and an excellent value. An A++ transaction! Would not hesitate to buy from this seller again. Thank you!

  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire truly excited by the prospect of this film which should be the turning point in the Harry Potter odyssey, but came away somewhat disappointed. The special effects were awesome, but the film played like a highlights tape. I know that there is no possible way to cover what was in the book, but the movie jumped from one high point to the next, with almost no character development. I fully expected this to be a darker movie, but it was lacking the warmth of the earlier films, simply because it didn't devote any time to the friendship of the three. I was also very surprised that so little time was devoted to the finale. This particular event was the changing point in Harry's life and it received even less time than some of the ...

  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire---2006,DVD

This Harry Potter installment was like being on a Rooler-Coaster going Backwards Blindfolded! NO FUN at all. Being a HUGE Potter fan, I was very excited to purchase this film because as far as I was concerned anything "Harry Potter" was worth the investment----and then---My Husband and Myself and our Kid's sat down to watch(with,Popcorn and all the trimmings!)Uggghhh......about an hour or so into the Movie, I asked--"Does anyone know what the heck is going on here!?" I was very discouraged by the amount of chop and flop the Movie was dishing out, not to mention it totally lacked the Heart and Soul of the previous "Potter" Movies. The cast seemed very distant emotion wise and left the story cold and void of any emotional attachment on the part of the viewer. So, sorry to say that this was a ...

  • Just okay for me...

I consider myself a Harry Potter fan. I have seen all 4 of the movies, BUT I have not read any of the books (I know, I know...) Although I understand that a movie cannot possibly contain all the nuances and details that a book can deliver for the first time when watching this movie I felt totally lost. Without having any knowledge of the book the storyline just didn't flow for me. Now the special effects... were wonderful, but at the end of the movie I felt totally unfulfilled- I just didn't get this one. However, if you ARE familiar with the book your experience may be totally different because you will be able to fill in the bits and peices that appear to be left out of the movie.

  • The Best Film in the Series

In this 4th Installment in the Harry Potter series, our young wizard finds himself placed in the Tri-Wizard tournament - a competition consisting of 3 dangerous events. During all this both Harry & his friends(Ron & Hermione)also deal with the dreaded threat known as puberty: Harry struggles with the concept of asking a girl out, Ron still acts like a nervous wreck & Hermione finally snags her first date. Another highlight to look forward to is the long awaited return of Harry's quote on quote nemesis, Lord Voldemort(played brilliantly by Ralph Fiennes). I thought this follow-up was a huge improvement over the disappointing 3rd film(HP & The Prisoner of Azkaban)which really sucked and didn't seem to add anything major to the series. If you have any young ones that want to see the film be ...

  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2 Disc Edition

What can I say? This is the best and worst of the movies so far. It was one of my favorite books and my favorite movie. The problem is that they cut to many sub plots such as Dobby the House-Elf. Also they went from Chapter 9 in the book to like Chapter 11 in a second. Other than that, it was a terrific movie. Much darker than the first three, but they will just keep getting darker as we go to 7. You have to at least rent this movie though, because it does keep with the main story. Just get the regular one disc because the deleted scenes in my opinion are HORRIBLE!
