Product Information

Amid chaotic, constantly changing battles of swords and sorcery, players lead their forces in a desperate struggle to save Middle-earth. Built on EA's Command & Conquer: Generals engine, The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth is a real-time strategy game set in the world of the Peter Jackson trilogy, based on the novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. It focuses on large-scale warfare instead of individual characters or the quest of the Fellowship, and is designed to re-create the epic battles featured in the three films. Familiar hero characters become available, however, and their powerful influences can turn the tide in a close battle. Four different factions are featured -- the riders of Rohan, the armies of Gondor, the forces of Saruman, and the legions of Sauron -- and each relies on a different type of resource to develop and replenish its forces. The game includes two separate single-player campaigns; one has fans leading the forces of good against the orcs and goblins of Mordor, and the other allows them to guide the forces of evil to claim Middle-earth for their dark master.

    I have an incomplete set; added this set and works perfectly. Purchased better video card with 4gb for other games and B for ME set-up...full speed options. Graphics blew me away, played other games...WOW!

    Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth, A Mouthful!

    You can tell I like this game right off the bat when I say that this is my second copy (for network play)! Battle for Middle Earth (BFME for short) is basically a Real-Time Strategy game themed for Lord of the Rings fans. Like most RTS games, it has "skirmish" mode (individual battles) and "campaign" mode (multiple battles following a storyline). In each battle, you build bases, train and upgrade troops, purchase Heroes who can use special powers and inspire troops close to them to improve their performance, and, of course, try to eliminate all enemies! Gameplay is most balanced between the various factions, and length can be tailored to suit by picking anywhere from 1 to 7 AI opponents. You can also play online with other humans, or over a network with AI and human players. There are ...

    Great for the hard-core Gamer!

    I've been a Tolkien fan since I was quite young, so was thrilled with the movies. This game has a lot of the movie graphics in it. For a hard-core computer gamer, this game may rank as awesome. But if you are like me, and play as a diversion, distraction, or for relaxation- I'm not so sure that you'll like it. While I was playing, I'd set it for easy, but it would reset for med-difficult. The one that I got had no instructions with it,and was nerve racking to try to scroll, plan work-able strategies for war & defense and impossible to get the system to do as it should have to carry out your plans. But, I'm not a hard-core gamer, either. I'm a self taught user, and human logic and computer logic don't always mesh.After winning the fourth campaign for good, the computer decided I was far ...

    Great Real-Time Strategy game for beginners

    This is a great game for people who are new to the RTS world of gaming and a must-have for LOTR fans. The "easy" mode (there are 3 levels of difficulty) of the game is slow-paced enough for even the complete newbie/casual gamer and stay that way. No need to keep clicking constantly just to stay alive :P Other RTS games like Warcraft III are also great but can get difficult pretty quickly and require you to constantly click (training units, upgrading, building, etc). However, hard-core gamers might find it "too easy" aka boring but who knows!

    Lord of the Rings - The Battle for Middle-earth

    When looking for a great PC game, look no further. From the opening screen, to battle play, and campaign strategy; The Lord of the Rings - The Battle for Middle-earth is a great game. Buyers will find many hours of fun fighting for the free world in a "good" campaign, or struggling to defend and expand the forces of Isengard and Mordor in a "evil" campaign. The in game graphics are quite good, the battle effects - very good as well. My own personal favorite is the battle for the Black Gate at the end of the "good" campaign.
