Great Broadcast mic, but also versatile.

For broadcast and voiceover work this mic has been a clear choice for professionals. It's offers more versatility than the tried and true RE20 because of it's three eq switches and increased power that allow use in more situations. I plan on using mine for voiceovers, as well as some instrument and vocal recording. I've never seen one on stage, but I might give it a try.

  • Outstanding dynamic mic makes weak vocals pop!

I own a small basement studio and have an RE-20, an RE-27 and the new RE320. Located in Buchannan Michigan, ElectroVoice makes some great mics and all of the RE-series have earned their permanent place in my mic locker. Each one has a slightly different personality. All three mics are solidly built, sound fantastic, have humbucking coils to reject noise and a set of switches to help tailor the response. I use all three on a regular basis, but I have, over time, decided I like certain mics better for certain purposes. The RE-27 N/D uses neodym rare earth magnets for a higher output and a slightly crisper upper end relative to the other two. I therefore tend to use the RE-27 N/D on voices that need more presence, especially on voiceovers. I use the RE-20 for vocals and voiceovers ...

  • RE27ND microphone works great, very happy.

Great microphone, works as described. I use it every day on my amateur radio. Best sounding mic that I own. Great Ebay dealer, would buy again.

  • RE 27 is a standard, what more to say?

Only that if I were you I would try both the RE 20 and the RE 27 for your apps as the 20 is usually plenty less expensive and same quality. Difference is that 27 has more passive EQ choices built in, higher output level(may not matter, depends on your gear) and the 27 has sort of a presence peak that flatters some voices but maybe not all. 20 has a flatter response, especially in the vocal range. Well go to EV website and compare the numbers if you want. Remember though the most popular widespread and richest radio personality, Rush Limbaugh, has an RE 27 as his "Golden microphone". He could afford anything, including Neumanns, like the idiot Howard Stern uses. That is a price difference like Chevy to Mercedes. And only one is USA made, keep jobs here!

  • Rugged, heavy, made in the USA quality

One of the best microphones in the world. Signal reports are always praising the sound quality. This is a perfect match for anyone using a Kenwood transceiver as long as an inline matching transformer is used.
