About this product

Product Information

A complete guide to playing D&D in the ice and snow. This 4-color supplement begins a new series of releases that focus on how the environment can affect D&D gameplay in every capacity. Frostburn contains rules on how to adapt to hazardous cold-weather conditions, such as navigating terrain with snow and ice and surviving in bitter cold or harsh weather. There are expanded rules for environmental hazards and manipulation of cold weather elements, as well as new spells, feats, magic items, and prestige classes. New monsters associated with icy realms are included, as well as variants on current monsters. There is enough adventure material included for months of gameplay.

This seller is a hero. Package didn’t come with a base, but the seller was quick to respond and send another. And when that base never showed up I was promptly sent yet another.

Another installment in the 'environmental' series of D&D books, this covers wintertime adventuring as well as the more year-round conditions of arctic environments. It even covers extra-planar environments where cold is a key element of the setting from the frozen layers of the Nine Hells, to frigid layers of the abyss, to arctic environments on the Elemental Planes of Air and Water. It has new racial variants, new feats for dealing with cold, Prestige Classes that are cold-oriented, as well as new feats, equipment, and spells for all spell-casting classes, and new magic items. It also has a quite broad selection of monsters for these environments, from the Orc Snow Shaman, to the Snow Spider, Glacier Dwarf, Midgard Dwarf, and Frostfell Ghost, to name but a few. And it also contains ...

  • Goof info to flesh out an arctic campaign.

Good sourcebook. I like the first part of the book detailing the hazards of a Frostfell environment. New feats are a mixed bag, some interesting and usable others not so much. Spells are likewise. Monstaers of Frostfell: just having stats on the Smilodon, Woolly Mammoth and Dire Polar Bear make it worthwhile. Overall a useful book, if you are running a campaign in an arctic or semi arctic area.

  • Frostburn

Frostburn, like its cousin books Stormwrack and Sandstorm, is a great addition to any DM's library. It has extensive information on monsters, races, weapons, and hazards of the snowy reaches, both natural and supernatural. It is especially helpful if you intend to run campaigns either exclusively in tundra and glacial regions, or if you plan to venture into them often. Again, like Stormwrack and Sandstorm, very little of it is particularly applicable outside of the Frostfell, but it is a good buy even if you just want to have it on hand. Personally, I like frosty, mountainous regions, and I love having the improved encounter tables, in-depth hazards, and, of course, all the monsters.

D&D 3e supplement to go with Sandstorm. Great ideas in both!

  • Useful information for certain campaigns.

One of the better supplements to 3.5 edition D&D. This one gives rules for arctic and alpine adventures. It's fairly well-rounded, including environments, modifications to player races, different planes, and the usual additional feats, monsters, and spells.
