Notes
Reissue. The first in a series of special material released from the Vault. The titles of the "Corsaga" are a play on words of FZ's famous Joe's Garage title, with the contents produced and compiled by the Vaultmeister, Joe Travers. It focuses on the origin of the Mothers Of Invention as told by Frank himself, along with early recordings made before their first record contract in early 1966.

Most relevant reviews

  • for lovers of the original Mothers of Invention

What we have here are early versions of Mothers tunes that mostly ended up on the first three original albums. Little here is in a finished state; rather these all sound like rehearsals with the tape left running-probably never meant for public consumption, but interesting, nonetheless. For latecomers to Frank's music from the 1970's and on, this material will sound quite crude and basic. Unlike the cream- of-the-crop musicians Frank later employed, the early Mothers band had players that received on-the-job training from Frank out of necessity. No matter. The Mothers of Invention were outrageous and revolutionary and made the world safe for like- minded acts to follow. This recording is a snapshot of a special moment in time, now sadly gone forever. electdrums
