    I am an artist and a devoted people watcher. I use the human form to portray beauty and dignity in my work -- I purchased this book strictly to study the faces (& hats) of beautiful proud women. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the book has some very short essays with each woman's portrait that are very much worth reading. As an Italian American, I was curious about the cultural motivations of the women in this book. (Why bother to keep the marvelous tradition of elegant hat wearing alive?) I was further impressed that the tradition is not completely rooted in mere vanity alone. This beautiful collection of black and white photos pays high tribute to just a handful hat wearing ladies whose individuality shines out from under some lovely, sometimes stunning, examples of the ...

    I heard about this book awhile back. Recently I was gifted one of these “crowns” and it means even more after reading this book. In these times of great divide, this is a good book to enjoy.
